How you can help

Uniting Church people interested in assisting in disaster recovery can help in a variety of ways.

Volunteer time

If you are serious about volunteering time to work in the area of disaster recovery you could consider:

  • Becoming a Presbytery Contact [job description]
  • Joining, through your presbytery, the New South Wales Disaster Welfare Services Coordinating Committee’s regional organisation in your area.

To discuss these possibilities contact Sandra Wright

Give money

There are several Uniting Church appeal funds to which you can give to help people affected by disaster.

Worldwide there are also church appeals you are invited to support.

Pray

Pray for people involved in disasters, their families and those who serve them.

Pray for Uniting Church people including:

• Synod Disaster Recovery Committee members

• Presbytery Disaster Contacts

• The Moderator — who is often invited to visit disaster-affected areas to bring God’s love and to make known the support and care the Uniting Church offers.

• Police, fire, ambulance and hospital chaplains.
