'IASOP' is open to all groups to submit prayer requests!
In a State of Prayer (IASOP) is a bi-monthly publication of the BOM featuring prayer requests from congregations, members and leaders across the NSW and ACT Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia.
As our prayers are answered... our 'FAITH' grows...
We know we are 'not alone'!
We are surrounded and supported by others who care and
We thank God that
'NO' thing is 'too small' or 'too large'!
I like the words of our 'former' Moderator Margaret Reeson;
"It has become clearer than ever that as a church we rely on the prayers of our people. When that foundation of prayer crumbles, the whole edifice collapses.
Whether you are part of a large group or pray in the quietness of your room, your work of prayer is vital to the life and spiritual health of the church."

Beginnings... Audrey Drury writes...
"Rev John Paton began the booklet and engaged the help of Don Robertson who, using the phone at the Board of Mission, rang to enlist the cooperation of ministers across NSW. He at the time was a member of the Hornsby Parish and folk there were keenly involved from the start, especially Mrs. Jessie Longmuir who assisted in preparing the prayers.
By the time I was involved, in May 1993 Rev Ian Robinson was the man at the helm and his lectionary prompted prayers each Sunday were appreciated by many. Jessie Weatherlake was an assistant also and she and Don spent time in the office in the city preparing the prayers sent in... I heard stories of 'real' cutting and pasting (was it on the floor?} and much work at assembling the prayers.
Faxes came from many places... The Chiropractor at Ballina, the Presbytery office in Canberra, our manse fax at Katherine..., Penrith and Coff's Harbour churches to mention a few... even to a local garage... I stood among the grease and clutter as I sent the faxes and was glad of the help of these great country blokes. Various towns have sent prayers for many years. Others have just joined the "family"...
This type of prayer is not a daily devotional booklet, but more correctly an 'aid to intercession'.
