'Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint'. Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)

For those who are finding it hard to make decisions
Father God, we are your family, and your love reaches out to us all, In your Son, Jesus, you know the pain of suffering. Grant to us a sense of your presence, and the knowledge that enables us to appreciate your pain because of our pain. May we know, too, that the healing hand of Jesus is touching us today, tonight, and every day and night, because of love - your love, and the love of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
'God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.' Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)
Almighty God, you have promised that if we seek first your kingdom and your righteousness all the things that we tend to worry about will be taken care of. Help us to trust you and your way with all our hearts, and not rely on our own understanding. May we do today what today needs, and not worry about tomorrow, but simply leave tomorrow in your hands. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your bodies and nourishment to your bones. Honour the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. '
Proverbs 3:5-10 (NIV)
For those who are fearful
I said, "You are my servant"; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:9b-10 (NIV)
The words of Jesus:
'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troiubled and do not be afraid.' John 14:27 (NIV)
'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yor souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.' Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
Lord Jesus Christ, you are waiting for us to come so that the load we are carrying today will be shared with you. Indeed, you will carry the greater part of the load for us, for you will not allow us to be burdened beyond what we can bear. Thank you for the load you carried for us on the cross. Because of what you have done there is nothing now that can harm us - neither things today nor things to come, neither life nor death. Enable us now to receive the peace you have promised all you disciples. For your love's sake. Amen.
For those who feel God is far away
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)
Lord Jesus Christ, you have given your all for us on the Cross. We thank you for your sacrifice of love. Your love reaches out to us especially when life is difficult. You come to us as the Risen Lord to help us to rise above the storms of life. You are reaching out to us now. Thank you. Thank you that we don't have to look for you, as you are always present, looking for us. Amen.
Thanksgiving for his providing
One of them (the lepers), when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him - and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine." Luke 17:15-17 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, forgive us when we say thanks to you only about 10% of the time. You do so much for us, and even when we understand what you have done we so often forget to say thanks. Give me now a thankful heart for your providing for me, and help me to know deep down in my heart that the one who has provided for me today will there providing for me tomorrow. I thank you for the way your work away in my life day by day often without me knowing. Every day you are bringing about a new creation. Thank you! Amen.
For those who are finding it hard to make decisions
Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7, TEV)
O Lord, our God, father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our father, I come to you with love in my heart for you, and I so want to praise you, but I am finding it difficult. There is so much that is occupying my mind, and some nights I am finding it difficult to sleep. That only makes the next day even more difficult. Take away my anxiety, and give to me the peace that the world cannot give, the peace that will enable to me to make the decisions I must make with confidence. Help me to take my eyes of the storm in my life, and 'turn my eyes on Jesus'. I hand over to you the problem that is confronting me, and now give me the grace not to try to take it back again. I truly rejoice in the strength and the grace I am receiving even now, through Jesus Christ my Saviour. Amen.
